Though 2007 has been a tumultuous year for John Kellington, the Elite 8 2006 honoree maintained his commitment to providing value to the business of insurance. Just weeks after Ohio Casualty Group, for which he served as SVP and CTO, was acquired by Liberty Mutual in late August 2007, Kellington was named senior vice president in charge of standards at ACORD (Pearl River, N.Y.) in mid-September.

Kellington, who also has worked as an IBM consultant, has had a long-standing relationship with ACORD, having served on the ACORD board of directors and chairing the ACORD standards committee. "Playing a part in developing standards for the entire industry is an opportunity there's no way I could pass up — it's the opportunity to participate in a tremendous value-add to the industry," Kellington says of his new post at ACORD. "Leveraging the value of ACORD standards through and through at Ohio Casualty was dramatically powerful, so I fundamentally believe in those concepts and the value they can bring to the insurance industry globally."
In the newly created position, Kellington says he will oversee the development of standards for life and annuity, property/casualty and surety, and reinsurance and large commercial. He also will work on development of the ACORD Standards Framework.
