Tomorrow’s Visionaries
By
Cathy Ellwood, Officer of Financial Leadership Rotational Program, Nationwide Insurance

Working with young leaders has really inspired me. I recruit college graduates for Nationwide's Financial Leadership Rotational Program in Ohio. For many of them, this is their first job, so I help facilitate their training.
Youthful energy is contagious. I get up in the middle of the night knowing what I need to do for a project or how I want to present coaching feedback. I've enjoyed their company so much, I even grabbed my sneakers and joined the company soccer team.
Working with the program has redefined my view of leadership. These visionaries have taught me that leadership is about knowing if people will follow you and implement your vision even when they know all of your negative qualities.
I love that they are not afraid to challenge an idea. Listening to their perspectives is energizing. These students actually want to maintain a work/life balance and give back to the community. They are inspired to bring innovation to the future of our industry.
